Frequently Asked Questions

Volunteering

Can I volunteer multiple days?

You can volunteer for 1 or 5 days, totally up to you and your schedule. We definitely appreciate your willingness to help us out!

I have a son, but want to volunteer. Can he come with me?

We do have a Boys Unit! This unit is ONLY for boys aged 4-12 with parents, guardians, or nannies volunteering, and they can only attend camp on the days their gaurdian is at camp.

Registration

Do I register my daughter for her current grade, or the grade she is going into?

Please register your daughter for the grade she will be going into in the fall!

Is there a cutoff date for registration?

Stay tuned!

What is the Adventure Unit and what age level is it for?

The Adventure Unit is for 6th-8th graders. They go off site to canoe, kayak, hike, caving and other adventures. They will stay at the campsite overnight on both Tuesday and Wednesday and return to camp in the afternoon on Thursday. For 2022 Day Camp, girls will be staying overnight in tents at Camp Stem in Indiana.

My child has an allergy or health condition. How do we make you aware of that? â€‹

Once we move your child off of the waiting list, which usually happens sometime in March, you will be prompted to fill out more paperwork, on which this information will be included.

Week of Camp

I need to get ahold of my child at camp. Can they have their cell phones with them?

We do not allow electronics at camp. If you need to get ahold of your child, please call camp at 502-957-3920. Note: This phone number is ONLY to be used during camp.

My child has an allergy and/or other dietary restrictions. Will there be food for her?

Yes! Please make sure to note his/her dietary restrictions on their registration so we can accommodate!

I am a former aide and would like to spend the night during the week with the aides. Is that allowed? â€‹

We are no longer allowing former program aides to spend the night Monday-Thursday. You may stay Friday night with the agreement that you will be helping clean camp Friday afternoon AND Saturday morning, and we ask that you pay for your own meal Friday evening.

Contact Information

What is the best way to contact the Day Camp committee when camp is not in session?

Please send a Facebook message to Area 13 Girl Scout Day Camp or an email to area13gsdaycamp@gmail.com. Please know that these are run by volunteers with full time jobs, so it may take a little bit for us to get back to you. Thank you for your patience!
